Due to its higher weight and precise combing, Karandila is one of the warmest blankets in our offer. It is also a very fine blanket suitable especially for indoor use.
We offer it in a decent single-color design and also in multi-colored striped variations with a classic blanket size (150 x 200 cm) or a double bed (200 x 220 cm) bedspread. Thanks to the relatively thick insulation space that creates the material, Karandila blankets are really very warm. Although it is the usual sheep wool and not a delicate merino, it is indeed a super soft blanket, pleasant to the touch. Karandila is also suitable for possible bed linen, which gives us a comfortable sleeping quilt. The fact that it has only very short fringes is also easy to handle with coated caramel, so it does not deform in the bedding.
These blankets are made in a small weaving mill in the Old Plain mountain range, which is also known by its historical name Haemus or Balkan. This steep mountain range extends several hundred kilometers from eastern Serbia across Bulgaria to the Black Sea. It is a famous woolen area. Until recently, herdsmen of the Karakacan ethnic group were traveling here seasonally. Their stacked flocks of sheep, often exceptional breeds, have been declared all over Bulgaria. To this day, the Greek-speaking Karakacians are the only stable source of dark wave for our manufacturers. Blankets are produced at Old Plain in family manufactories, often even in remote villages, which is the case of our manufacturer. Wool used for weaving Karandil comes from local malochovů and its processing and weaving are used only environmentally friendly procedures. For example, the last stage of production – washing blankets – takes place in large funnel-shaped wooden containers built during mountain streams. From the drive to them is brought fast flowing water and blankets, which are here for several hours spinning and rubbing against each other, so thoroughly wash completely without the use of detergents. We also would mention that the specificity of this blanket production is the final combing and how to do.
MAINTENANCE
Wash cold or at most 30 ° C, preferably on a woolen program, preferably using a lanolin-containing wool wash. If you are not sure whether your washing machine can handle woolen products sensitively, we recommend hand washing. Even coarser blankets will soften somewhat after washing. Do not bleach or blanket the blankets in a tumble dryer. You can clean and iron them chemically, but the iron temperature must not exceed 110 ° C. In general, it is not recommended to wash woolen products excessively, as wool during the washing process gradually loses its natural properties and abilities. We recommend that you frequently wind wool blankets and carpets in the fresh air, returning wool fibers to their natural qualities while preventing moth protection. If you are not sure how to proceed with your wool product, please contact us at info@balkanova.eco.
