Mavrud is the king of Bulgarian wines. An endemic ancient variety from the Thracian plain. A noble dry wine, one of the oldest grape varieties ever. The favourite wine of the ancient Thracians, the ancestors of today's Bulgarians, who also drank it during ceremonies in honour of their deities, especially the god Zagreus. The wine has a dark red colour with black shades (hence the name of the variety, based on the Greek word μαύρος = black). Its wonderful, rich aroma and strong, dense flavour, full of Thracian sun on a hot plain, makes it ideal for festive occasions. It is also suitable for archiving. In the Mezzek White Soil range, named both after an important Thracian tomb in south-eastern Bulgaria and the specific white colour of the soil on which the winery's vineyards are located, we also bring you an interesting mavrud x cabernet sauvignon cuvée that combines the strengths of both varieties in a balanced way. The wine has a deep, dark ruby colour with a hint of cherry and is rich and juicy, with a great balance between the flavours of fruit, oak, tannins and acidity. In the palate, there is black chocolate and caramel.
