Galata blankets are medium warm wool blankets that are suitable as a blanket for a sofa, armchair or divan. They are suitable for everyday use throughout the year and evoke a cosy feeling. They are made from fine Turkish wool and are therefore one of our softest blankets that are not made from merino. They are made from wool with a fibre thickness of 26-27 microns, whereas the merino blankets we have on offer are made from 21-25 micron fibre. So the difference in softness compared to merino blankets is not big, but because they are not merino, we have ranked them right in the middle on our five-point softness scale, i.e. among the soft blankets.
The blanket has a herringbone pattern, but horizontally oriented, not vertically oriented, as is more common in blankets such as Karandila or Marina.
Galata was made in Turkey. Its name refers to the famous district of Istanbul of the same name, where one of the symbols of Turkey's largest city, the Galata Tower overlooking the Bosphorus, is also located.
